United States Routes 1 and 50 join for two miles through Washington, DC.

Dan Moraseski 6/5/04
Northbound on US 1/14th St. at Madison Drive, one street before meeting US 50/Constitution Avenue. Left turns onto US 50 west are prohibited, so access is provided via Madison Drive (left turn here) and then 15th Street northbound to US 50/Constitution Avenue.

Dan Moraseski 6/5/04
Following Madison Drive and 15th Street for a block each, a left turn leads to US 50/Constitution Avenue west. Constitution Avenue marks the north side of the National Mall, full of national monuments and points of interest.

Dan Moraseski 6/5/04
Eastbound on US 1 north/US 50 east/Constitution Ave. east at 9th Street. US 1/US 50 soon turn north, but the route follows two one way streets. US 1 north/US 50 east uses 6th Street north, and US 1 south/US 50 west uses 9th Street south. US 1 south never actually ventures onto Consitution Avenue as US 50 does. A right here at 9th Street leads to US 1 south. US 50 west joins Constitution Ave. west at that intersection.

Dan Moraseski 6/5/04
Three blocks ahead, US 1 north/US 50 east turns north onto 6th Street.

Reassurance shields northbound on 6th Street at the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue.

Dan Moraseski 6/5/04
Southbound on US 1 south/US 50 west/9th Street south. US 1/US 50 split here. US 1 leads straight to a duplex with I-395, while US 50 turns westward toward a duplex with I-66.

Dan Moraseski 6/5/04
Southbound on 9th Street/US 1 past the southern split. US 1 joins I-395/Southwest Freeway in three blocks. I-395 connects to I-295 to the east.
