US 13(N-S)/US 40(E-W) Duplex

 

United States Routes 13 and 40 join for 3.56 miles through Wilmington Manor in New Castle County.

Northbound on US 13/US 40 at the interchange with I-295. US 40 uses this large interchange to leave US 13 and join I-295.

Southbound on US 13 at the same interchange. The US 13/US 40 duplex begins straight ahead at this interchange.

Westbound on I-295/US 40 at the same western split of that duplex. US 40 leaves I-295 to join US 13 at the northern end of the US 13/US 40 duplex.

 

US 13(N-S)/US 40(E-W)/Truck DE 9(N-S) Triplex

The US 13/US 40 and US 13/Truck DE 9 duplexes overlap for 1.0 miles through Rambleton Estates in New Castle County.

Heading e astbound on DE 273 at the intersection of US 13/US 40/Truck DE 9. Truck DE 9 north enters from the right, leaving the triplex, and joins DE 273 straight ahead to connect to DE 9 in New Castle.

Southbound on US 13/US 40/Truck DE 9 just south of the junction with Truck DE 9/DE 273. Truck DE 9 signs are rarely included on this triplex, and US 40 is also often omitted.

Further south along the triplex, partially obsolete overhead guide signs indicate the US 13/US 40 southern split. US 301 and Truck US 301 no longer follow US 13/US 40 to here, as US 301 was relocated to follow DE 896. US 40 veers westward toward Maryland, while US 13 and signless Truck DE 9 continue southward on the Delmarva Peninsula.
