US 15 joins the I-180/US 220 duplex for a 3 mi three-way triplex
and bypass of Williamsport. US 15 meets the duplex at the Basin Street
exit. I-180 ends, and US 15 and US 220 split on the west side of the
city.

US 220 northbound, heading east into toward Williamsport.

Timothy Reichard 8/3/02
The Hepburn Street exit is the eastern split of I-180/US 15/US 220,
shown before reaching the western split.

Timothy Reichard 8/3/02
I-180 begins at the US 15 North exit, but there are no signs depicted
the interstate's start until we reach the exit.

Timothy Reichard 8/3/02
US 15 North exits and loops around on the background overpass. I-180
begins here, and US 15 southbound will join shortly. This interchange
will be redesigned as part of the completion of I-99. I-99 will follow
US 220 north to this interchange, and then join US 15 from here to
New York. The current configuration would have I-99 exit this US 220
expressway and merge onto the US 15 expressway , when interstate standards
discourage an interstate exiting onto itself.

Timothy Reichard 8/3/02
US 15 southbound has joined the expressway as the right lane, which
becomes the exit ramp for the Maynard Street exit. US 15 lasts for
no more than a two-minute drive, as the background signs show its
eastern split from the triplex.

Timothy Reichard 8/3/02
Maynard Street exits, and the overhead signs show that US 15 will
soon split from the expressway.

Timothy Reichard 8/3/02
Still on I-180 eastbound, US 15 southbound, and US 220 northbound.

Timothy Reichard 8/3/02
US 15 south exits, but US 15 does not yet leave Williamsport.

Timothy Reichard 8/3/02
Yet another overhead sign for the US 15 South exit, Exit 27B.

Timothy Reichard 8/3/02
Exit 27B is a partial interchangeyou cannot get back on the
interstate from this exit.

Timothy Reichard 8/3/02
US 15 passes under the expressway and becomes a frontage road on
the left side of the highway. US 15 then follows a cloverleaf ramp
to pass over I-180/US 220 on the old Market Street Bridge (built in
1951) to South Williamsport. From the other direction of I-180/US
220, the US 15 South exit (Exit 26) takes traffic onto the frontage
road and then the old bridge, and US 15 northbound follows the frontage
road to Exit 27B and joins the expressway. The 50-year-old bridge,
unusual routing of US 15 as a frontage road, and the absence of Exit
27A will be remedied in the next few years, as a new single-point
diamond interchange will be constructed for the eastern split of I-180/US
15/US 220.

Timothy Reichard 8/3/02
After US 15 southbound exits from I-180 eastbound/US 220 northbound,
the next series of exits are shown with the US 15 Market Street Bridge
in the background. US 15 heads into South Williamsport, where it meets
up with the ends of PA 654, PA 554, and then PA 54. The "s"
in "Exits" has worn off.

Timothy Reichard 8/3/02
Turning around and heading back toward the west, US 15 southbound
is Exit 26, the second partial interchange to the frontage road.

Timothy Reichard 5/15/03
The frontage road (US 15 north) merges with I-180 west/US 220 south,
but I-180 is excluded in two instances of westbound reassurance shields,
like these.

Douglas Kerr 4/28/02
Continuing ahead, US 15 splits from US 220 at Exit 29. I-180 ends
at this interchange.

Timothy Reichard 5/15/03
The end of I-180 is signed just past the US 15 exit. US 220 continues
westward (signed southbound) as an expressway most of the way to the
I-80/US 220 duplex, though there are two short gaps in the freeway
where the route follows undivided alignments. These gaps will be upgraded
or bypassed to make US 220 (which is also Future I-99) a full freeway
from Williamsport to State College (and eventually connecting to the
current I-99 from Bald Eagle to Bedford).
