The PA 42/PA 487 duplex follows the hilly countryside of Columbia County
to reach Catawissa. This photo was shot south of town.

In the center of town, the two routes split here at a five-way intersection.
The duplex enters along the diagonal street. Both PA 42 and PA 487 form
duplexes with US 11 just to the north, one on each side of Bloomsburg.

This view is from the next street to the right, SR 2018. PA 42/PA 487
meets the northern split from the diagonal street. The arrow pointing
down to the left is correcta rare usage of a downward diagonal arrow.

Here is another view of the intersection, from the next street to the
right. PA 487 southbound joins PA 42 here.

Taking the diagonal street toward the south, the confirmation shields
are posted here on the sidewalk.

Less than a mile to the south, the two routes split and separately ascend
a hill.

Here is a closer view of the two uphill roads. PA 42's next stop is Centralia,
the abandoned coal fire town. PA 487 heads to Knoebel's Amusement Resort.
Both routes end at PA 61 to the south.

PA 42 and PA 487 are signed separately along PA 487 northbound at the
southern split. PA 487 descends the steep hill, curves to meet PA 42 at
a sharp angle, and meets a stop sign.

Here is a closer view of the intersection, complete with PA 487 signs
visible to both routes.
