Pennsylvania Routes 74 and 462 join on two one-way streets for a mile
through York in York County. PA 462 west follows PA 74 north for most of the duplex and PA 74 south for one block at the western split.

Eastbound on PA 462/Market Street in western York. PA 74 south joins PA 462 east without warning here at Carlisle Avenue. The duplex begins ahead. Carlisle Avenue also carries PA 462 west to this intersection to end the one-way routing through the city.

The PA 74/PA 462 duplex is well signed in both directions. The second eastbound reassurance shields are posted at Hartley Street. PA 462 is signed first (on top of or to the left of PA 74) because the PA 462 designation replaced the previously more important US 30 designation.

Jason Ilyes 5/7/02
East of the town center, PA 74 turns right to continue southeastward to Maryland.

PA 74 south splits from PA 462 east onto Queen Street.

A northward view of the eastern split. This view is along PA 74/Queen
St. northbound. PA 462 east heads right on Market Street, and PA 74 north/PA
462 west heads left on Philadelphia Street a block to the north.

Jay Rotz 6/22/02
PA 74 makes the left turn onto PA 462/Philadelphia Street.
This intersection is one block east of the intersection of PA 74/PA 462
and Business I-83, Pennsylvania's only interstate business route.

Jay Rotz 6/22/02
The PA 74/PA 462 duplex follows two one-way streets in town:
Philadelphia Street westbound/northbound, and Market Street eastbound/southbound.
PA 462 is the effective business route of US 30, which formerly followed
current PA 462 but now bypasses town to the north.

Timothy Reichard 3/16/05
The two routes are signed together at least four times in the westbound direction. These shields are the fourth set in this direction.

Jay Rotz 6/22/02
At the western split at the west end of town, PA 74 makes
a slight angle to the right, and PA 462 makes a sharp angle to the left
to join PA 74 south for a block and then to rejoin Market Street. Both routes meet US 30 at an interchange.
