PA 8 is a four-lane undivided highway with residential areas on parallel
sections of the old two-lane PA 8 from the 1920s. One such section
of old highway is just off the left side of the road here.

About a mile and a half to the south, PA 228 turns westward again
to meet Hays Mill and Mars on its way to the new Cranberry interchange
of I-76, I-79, and US 19.
