Closer to the intersection, PA 45 shields stand. A few years ago, there was a single PA 45 shield with a double arrow underneath.
The view of PA 45 eastbound shows both PA 104 and Truck PA 304 signs. The northern terminus of PA 304 is at a narrow intersection that makes turning from PA 45 to PA 304 (or vice versa) difficult or impossible, so this truck route provides access around Mifflinburg between those two routes. Truck PA 45 runs only westbound, while Truck PA 304 runs only eastbound. The route is always signed as TRUCK TO, probably because Truck PA 45 and Truck PA 304 are each one-way routes that meet their parent routes only once.
Two miles to the south along PA 104 (and only a half mile from its eastern terminus at PA 304), Truck PA 304 leaves PA 104 at the southern split. Note that White Springs is two miles to the west.

Between the reassurance markers stands a single little white sign, showing that the truck route follows SR 3004 in Union County.
The eastern terminus of Truck PA 45/Truck PA 304 is at PA 304 about 2 miles south of Mifflinburg. The PA 304 shield points to the eastbound direction. Though not signed, since the truck route is intended for traffic wanting to continue eastbound on PA 304, westbound PA 304 heads left from here.
At the same intersection with the view of westbound PA 304, Truck PA 45 shields direct truck traffic based on the intended direction once meeting PA 45. Truck PA 45 begins here, and Truck PA 304 ends here. Trucks wishing to go eastbound when reaching PA 45 in Mifflinburg two miles to the north can bypass PA 304's western terminus (the intersection that inhibits truck turns) by following a different street in Mifflinburg to reach PA 45. Note that White Springs is still two miles to the west.
