US 322 and PA 970 used to join for 5 miles from Woodland to Wallaceton in
Clearfield County.

US 322/PA 970 was a recent addition and now is a recent deletion from Pennsylvania's sampling of
multiplexes. In 2002, PA 970 was relocated along US 322 from the US 322/PA
970 intersection southeast to SR 2029. Through most of the duplex,
the PA 970 shields were recycled from the old routing but appeared newer
than the US 322 shields, probably because they were washed. These
reassurance shields stood near the northern split. In 2005, PA 970 was truncated at the former western split of the duplex.

Here is the northern split as approached on PA 970 southbound. Notice
the brighter PA 970 shield.

Here is the intersection where PA 970 southbound joins US 322 eastbound.
PA 970 used to continue straight ahead instead until its relocation
between August 2001 and April 2002.

Here is the view from Old PA 970. Previously, PA 970 and US 322 crossed
here.

Here is another view of the northern split, this time along US 322
westbound/PA 970 northbound.

Here is a clearer view of the signs. The I-80 & PA 970 interchange
is two miles to the north.

Five miles to the southeast, PA 970 splits off from US 322 eastbound
onto Old SR 2029. A couple of miles to the west of here, PA 970 meets
its old route and continues south to Osceola Mills.

Here are the new signs for PA 970 at the southern split.

Here is a third view of the southern split, from US 322 westbound.

Reassurance shields are posted at the southern split. US 322/PA 970
is well signed along the new duplex as several intersections in between
the splits.
