Business US 22 was designated along the former US 22 through Monroeville.
When present-day I-376 (Penn-Lincoln Parkway) was built in the 1950s
and early 1960s, US 22 was moved to follow the interstate, and the
business route designation took over. Business US 22 ties into I-376/US
22 at Exit 10B in Churchill and Exit 15 in Monroeville. Locally, the
business route is known as the William Penn Highway along its entire
length.
