Northern End, US 6/US 209, Milford
|

C. C. Slater 3/7/04
US 206 currently ends less than a mile from the Delaware river with
a junction with US 209 south of Milford. However, US 206 used to follow
US 209 north to Milford to connect with its parent route, US 6. This
sign is posted on US 209 north of US 206's north end, showing that
US 206 used to extend further north.

The old US 206/US 209 duplex is signed now as US 209 TO US 206. The
middle scene in this mosaic shows the old northern end of US 206.
US 209 may have also ended here before the
mid-1930s, as the route then did not extend past Milford.

are still up, including one that shows US 206 continuing north to
Milford.

Jersey.

The view from US 209 north. Making the right turn, US 206 immediately
crosses the Delaware river on a toll bridge to New Jersey. If US 209
did not end in Milford before the mid-1930s, it probably ended here.

as PA 209.

at the Pennsylvania/New Jersey state line

C. C. Slater 3/7/04
US 206 crosses from New Jersey to Pennsylvania across the Milford-Montague
Toll Bridge. US 206 parallels the Delaware River on the New Jersey
side, then turns left to reach the bridge.

C. C. Slater 3/7/04
Making the left turn, US 206 crosses the Delaware River and slows
down as it reaches its end in Pennsylvania.

C. C. Slater 3/7/04
At the Pennsylvania side of the River, northbound traffic must pay
a toll. US 206's end is just ahead at US 209, visible in the background
here.
