Ridgway is home to one of the rarer breeds of US Highways: truck
routes. US 219/PA 948 northbound descends a steep, curvy grade to
enter Ridgway. Truck US 219 is a northbound alternative for trucks,
which initially bypasses Ridgway to the east, loops around a straight
angle to meet PA 120, and then follows PA 120 (Front Street and Depot
Street) into Ridgway to reconenct to US 219/PA 948 in town. Southbound
truck traffic takes US 219/PA 948 directly. The truck route and US
219 itself each have two runaway truck ramps for the descent.
